Our heartfelt congratulations to Carmel Suart
on her appointment as
Interim Director of the Centre for Liturgy, Archdiocese of Perth

 

This appointment comes after a period of discernment and consultation between Archbishop Costelloe SDB, Fr Vincent Glynn the Episcopal Vicar for Education and Faith Formation and Dr Suart.  Carmel has responded with a generosity of heart and will take on this interim role with great enthusiasm.

 

Carmel brings with her substantial experience within the Archdiocese.  Carmel has worked for many years in the Archdiocesan Catechist Service and later for the Religious Education and Faith Formation Team within Catholic Education Western Australia.

 

For the past four years Carmel has held dual roles as the Director of the Office of Christian Initiation and the Research & Development Officer for the Parish Renewal Team.  She will remain in her role as Director of the Office of Christian Initiation.  Carmel has experience working closely with parish priests, catechists, parents and families of children preparing for the sacraments in their local parish.  She is an active member of the Parish of St John & Paul, Willetton.

 

Carmel holds qualifications in both education and theology, a Masters in Sacramental Theology and has completed her doctoral Thesis on Nurturing Faith in the Home.  Carmel is currently working to complete a Masters of Canon Law.  All these skills will enable her to lead the day-to-day operations of the Centre for Liturgy along with their very capable staff.  Carmel officially commenced this interim role on 1 December 2023.
