Archbishop Costelloe in his Pastoral Plan 2016 -2021, calls us to walk together in the footsteps of the Good Shepherd. That in company with Jesus, we are working to become a Church that is Christ-centred, faithful, vibrant, welcoming, inclusive and mission-orientated
The Parish Renewal team that is responsible for assisting parishes in this vision of the Archbishop up till now has been focusing on parish pastoral councils. Pastoral councils have been encouraged to take up our Archbishop’s call to have a collaborative spirit.
Parishes, especially neighbouring parishes, often face similar issues and difficulties so they have been encouraged to be a support to each other. Firstly, by praying for each other but some parishes have also begun to work together on a common pastoral issue.
The Parish Renewal team is now getting ready for our next phase.
This new initiative in parish renewal is a package developed for Lent 2020. It is being developed so that all parishioners can reflect on our Archbishop’s vision and each one in their own way and time see how they live it out.
It is important to always respect what each person is able to do, and the contribution of each parishioner is a valuable contribution. St. Pope John Paul II was fond of saying: Each person is unique and unrepeatable!
Therefore, what each one of us can contribute to the life of the parish is indeed valuable. The Lenten package is being developed to encourage each parishioner to reflect on this. To see how God calls us to collaborate with each other.
